Roundtable Discussion - Training and skills: the human capital of measurements and testing

VIP ROOM

From basic training to advanced skills development: how to respond to the technological and digital transformations in the measurement and testing sector
The Round Table addresses the topic of staff competence in the measurement and testing sector as a critical quality factor and strategic lever for innovation. In a context characterised by technological and digital transformations, the need emerges to develop new professional profiles, strengthen existing competences and foster knowledge transfer between generations. The dialogue between Institutions, laboratories, companies, professional bodies and the academic world aims to identify shared models for training, qualification and skills development.
Discussion topics
• Competence needs such as: evolution of technical profiles (metrology and digital), hybridisation of roles (metrology, IT, data analysis) and the gap between training and business needs
• Training offer and models: initial training (Universities, ITS, technical schools), continuous training (Academy, on-the-job training) and collaboration between laboratories and industry
• Qualification and recognition: competence certification and the role of accreditation and standardisation (e.g. metrologist technician)
• Know-how transfer in generational transitions, enhancement of laboratory experience and sharing of experiences

Rosalba Mugno – Director of the Calibration Laboratories Department, Accredia
Federico Tramarin - Department of Engineering and Management of Industrial Systems, University of Padova
