Smart traceability in factory and warehouse: from reliable data to field decisions
Traceability is today an essential component of industrial logistics: correctly identifying materials, components and packages means having reliable data to manage processes, reduce errors and make faster decisions.
But how are identification technologies evolving and how is the collected data transformed into operational value? The seminar proposes a journey that follows the data throughout the entire operational process: from its acquisition through identification and traceability technologies, to intelligent processing, through to its use in Frontline AI to support field decisions. A journey that shows how different technologies can be integrated to make factory and warehouse flows more efficient and reliable.
Through three technical-application contributions, IDNOVA, PERNIX and MULTIMAC will present concrete solutions and experiences applied to different phases of industrial and logistics processes: from production traceability through RFID technology, to advanced identification of packages during shipping via Edge Computing and Machine Learning, through to the use of Frontline AI to transform operational data into field decisions.
A discussion dedicated to those who want to understand not only which technologies to adopt, but above all how to integrate them into processes to obtain reliable data, greater efficiency and concrete results.
IDNOVA: The foundations of traceability: from RFID tag selection to production traceability
The success of any industrial digitalisation project lies in the quality of the data captured in the field. In the context of RFID technology, this is represented by the correct choice of RFID label. Selecting the right tag is not a simple purchasing detail, but a determining engineering choice: choosing the wrong tag means generating false negatives and data gaps that compromise the entire data architecture.
Once reading accuracy at source is guaranteed, RFID technology becomes the engine of production traceability. Automatic identification makes it possible to monitor Work in Progress in real time, map product genealogy, track transitions between work centres and associate test data with each individual part. This continuous and certified flow translates into concrete value only through native integration with the management systems already in use.

PERNIX – Gruppo Xholding – Advanced package identification solutions in shipping using Edge Computing and Machine Learning algorithms
Goods inspection during the shipping phase is a critical step for the efficiency of logistics processes. Smart Labels and RFID systems make it possible to automate the identification of packages during transit in the bay, simultaneously detecting dozens of them without operator intervention. However, the large number of readings generated requires an additional level of processing, capable of distinguishing actual transits from readings produced by the surrounding environment. Edge Computing, filtering algorithms and Machine Learning make it possible to process this data in real time and identify any anomalies, enabling immediate verification of the load and the transmission to WMS and ERP of validated data only.
Daniele Lucca - Head of RFID Solutions
MULTIMAC - From traceability to Frontline AI: transforming operational data into field decisions.
Traceability does not end when a product, a material or a resource is correctly identified. It is precisely from that moment that the data acquires value.
RFID, barcode, machine vision, sensors and business systems are creating an ever-growing amount of information coming from the physical processes of factory and warehouse. Frontline AI represents the next step: bringing this intelligence directly to the point where work is performed, through mobile computers, wearables and edge devices capable of interpreting context and supporting operators and managers in operational decisions.
Evolving from simple data collection leads to a new form of operational visibility, in which identification, traceability and AI converge to reduce errors and decision-making times, intercept anomalies and make the front line more connected, informed and responsive.
